In our Hamburg office, we are offering a training position for becoming a patent attorney and we are therefore looking for a

PATENT ATTORNEY CANDIDATE

specialising in

Electrical engineering, telecommunication technology, or similar.

Your tasks

As a patent attorney candidate, you will deal with all aspects of intellectual property law, including patent law, trademark law and design law, in close cooperation with the responsible patent attorney. To this end, you should have the ability to familiarise yourself quickly with new, particularly technical, issues and to describe them clearly and comprehensibly. In the course of your training, you will be introduced to all the key legal and technical issues and activities involved in the profession of patent attorney. These include the following activities:

• Drafting patent applications, formulating claims, corresponding with patent offices and clients, dealing with official notifications and technical translation work
• Independently conducting literature and patent searches and monitoring patent applications
• Advising clients
• Supporting the patent attorneys in examination, opposition and infringement proceedings, expert opinions and in trademark and design law matters

Your profile / qualifications

• Degree in electrical engineering, telecommunication technology or comparable scientific or technical qualification (Master degree or higher)
• Very good knowledge of German and English. Knowledge of Chinese, Korean or Japanese is an advantage
• Careful and accurate way of working
• Enjoy formulating a wide range of technical issues
• Good powers of abstraction
• Preferably already professional experience in the respective technical field and/or in the field of intellectual property
